Congratulations to Norwich City Canaries who today won their playoff game which earned them the right to play in the Premier Division from next season. Huntingdon Town will be relegated to Division One West.

Also as a quick reminder. The player registration forms are changing (as per our previous meeting agreement) all new player registration forms will be posted to you so that you will receive them before our AGM which is set for Monday June 6th 2005.Any player that is signed on an old form will be returned so please wait for the new form to arrive

08-05-05

Don't forget that all application forms for next season 2005-2006 MUST be with the League Secretary (Alex) by the 1st June at the latest (earlier would be a bonus). We have a list of clubs who would like to take your place so make sure you abide by the rules and get those forms completed and in. We must have on the form TWO contact numbers that would be able to be contacted on match day should there be a need to (so we need different people of different addresses instead of say 2 sisters or a dad and daughter etc). We also need a contact e-mail address of a contact within the club so that electronic mail can be used for speed and efficiency. And don't forget to have the cheque with application.

On a lighter note may I on behalf of the ERWFL management committee thank everyone who over this season have strived to get things right both on the football pitch and with dealings with the League Administration. Yes there have been blips but that is always going to be the case, but hopefully we can learn by them and make the League a better and more efficient outfit next year. As we tend to say every season, The management committee is made up of people who are still or have been involved in Ladies Football and that we have all been where you are today. When we are elected to take the position on the management committee we undertake to administer the rules of the league (that you and I have agreed to) to the best of our ability and within the guidelines set down by the Football Association of which we are sanctioned. If there is anyone who would like to come on board and help out or put up for a post then you are more than welcome just send a note to Alex and we will put your name forward.

At this time at the end of a hard yet enjoyable season, have a great break and I look forward to seeing you all next season.

08-05-05

Congratulations to the Cup, Plate and Memorial Shield winners. Chelmsford City (Memorial Shield) Peterborough (Vauxhall Aftersales League Plate) and Cambridge United (Vauxhall Aftersales League Cup). The finals were played in somewhat differing conditions ie, bright sunshine, wind, rain and hail which all in all was a credit not only to the all the teams that took part but also the standard of women's football within the Region. Well done to you all. Dave Dawson (Chair)

03-05-05

Congratulations to Colchester United who brushed aside Dagenham & Redbridge 4-1 in their Combination playoff on Sunday. They will now be looking to repeat the performance against Woking on 15th May 2005.

Congratulations are also given to Norwich City Canaries who beat AFC Kempston 6-1 in their first divisional playoff game. Norwich will now play Huntingdon on May 15th 2005 at Peterborough to see who will be in the Premier division next season.

28-04-05

I will not be able to receive e-mails or phone calls until Monday afternoon. You will be able to reach me on my mobile though which is 07951-013199. Results from this weekends games will appear on Monday as well.

21-04-05

Firstly on behalf of the Management Committee of the ERWFL I would like to congratulate the three divisional Champions for this season. Colchester United, Peterborough and Fakenham & Aylsham.

Now I would like to bring to your attention the fact that Alex has yet to receive the winning trophies from last season. Unusually he is in a forgiving mood as he has said that he needs ALL LEAGUE TROPHIES RETURNED TO HIM BY WEDNESDAY 27TH APRIL 2005. That is almost a month past the date they should have been back. Otherwise fines will be incurred.

07-04-05

Follow link for info on the South East Combination League Cup Final

04-04-05

Alex has pointed out that some of the Semi-finalists have not yet forwarded their team photo's / pen pictures to him for the cup final programme should you get through. This information allows us to pre organize the layout for the programme and is also Rule 4,d of the League Cup rules which also carries a fine for non compliance. Alex has given you the chance to beat the fine by getting the information to him by Friday 8th April. failure means you will be notified of the fine incured.

31-03-05

The venues for the semi-finals have now been secured and are as follows:

Vauxhall Aftersales League Cup

Colchester United   v   Stanway    'Ipswich Wanderers FC'

Norwich Canaries   v   Cambridge United   'AFC Cornard FC'

Vauxhall Aftersales League Plate

Peterborough   v   Cambridge City Reserves   'Huntingdon FC'

Sawbridgeworth Town   v   Loddon United   'Somersham Town FC' (17-04-05)

Lisa Slater Memorial Shield

AFC Kempston   v   Godmanchester Rovers    'Barton Rovers FC'

Chelmsford City   v   Cornard Ladies   'Godmanchester Rovers'

All games to be played on 10th April 2005 unless otherwise stated with a 2.00pm kick off.

29-03-05

As we are entering the last few weeks of the season and it becomes more and more imperative that the remaining games get played on time so that the final promotion and relegation spots can be ratified. The management committee have decided that any games NOT PLAYED on the date set would be awarded to the non defaulting club and a fine imposed to the defaulting side. This action will be taken immediately as there will be little time left to deal with the matters by disciplinary. Should there be a viable reason then the management committee reserves the right to deal with the matter accordingly.

20-03-05

Please note there is a new e-mail address for Nina Brown of AFC Kempston. It is as follows:

20-03-05

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that we are approaching the final days for registration of players for this season. The last day for registrations is 31st March.

I also have to let you know that from 23rd March until 10th April both Helen and Bill will not be able to be contacted. For all matters relating to fixtures / player registrations please contact either myself or Alex and we will attempt to set you on the right direction.

14-03-05

14-03-05The draw for the semi-finals was made today at Vauxhall Aftersales under the guidance of Alex Franklin our League Secretary. Please check under competitions.

09-03-05

Two items to mention, firstly those of you who are observant will see that on the fixtures page I have added a button 'ARCHIVES' as a request from a couple of you that wish to see this seasons results and also for those of you who wish to see how the Region has evolved over the years. At present I am still compiling the information as to the Region but the results are active. Secondly Colchester United have asked me to put information on the site with regard to Women's Only level 2 Coaching Course to be held in Chelmsford very soon. For information regarding this please contact  www.culfc.com where all the information can be accessed.

06-03-05

Helen Hoye has asked me to put on the web site a request to all teams that are currently involved in the League Cup/Plate/Shield Competitions. If your ground is deemed to be unplayable, could you first enquire about reversing the fixture before calling the game off. Every week we postpone a game the league games that should be played the following week are being put further back and that is a situation we cannot have as we have to have champions by a certain date. Please help in this matter it would be much appreciated also as we approach the end of the season if you can do the same with league games again it would be appreciated by all.

01-03-05

Satellite Registration Secretary Yvonne Chapman has informed me today that she has received 2 signed photo's a compliment slip from The Cambridge Belfry Hotel but NO registration forms. She has no idea who they are from or from what team. Please contact Yvonne on 01763-230673 or 07970-418680 ASAP

17-02-05

It has been noticed that some clubs are failing to complete their match cards correctly. I am referring to the small piece of information at the bottom left of the form with regard to substitutes. As we are now entering the later stages of the cup competitions as well, we need to know who has played and who has not and we need to know who they have replaced.

Girls Only Coaching Course in Colchester

The very popular "Girls Only" Football Coaching Courses held by the Colchester United Community Sports Trust are making a welcome return to Colchester this coming February Half Term.

Last summer, the very first "Girls Only" football courses took place with over 60 girls attending.  The two day course was a fun introduction to football for girls aged 7-14 years old who brushed up on the basics, learnt some new tricks and also took part in a mini EURO 2004 tournament, and also received some very special coaching tips from England U19 International, Bonnie Horwood.

This February Half Term, budding young female footballers in Essex have another opportunity to get involved in the beautiful game and receive top quality tuition from all female coaches in an all girl environment.

The two-day course will run during the half term on 21st & 22nd February at the F.A. Mini Soccer Centre, King George V Playing Fields, Clairmont Road, Colchester.

Pre-Booking is required and you can download a booking form from the Colchester United Ladies F.C. website, www.culfc.com, or you can email the course coordinator, Charlotte Smith on csmith@cucst.org.uk, or telephone the Community Soccer Centre on 01206 572378.

10-01-05

We have been asked by The Middlesex County FA to place this message on the Web site aimed at the clubs that are affiliated to any of the London area County FA's.

In early February, the County FA's that make up London are holding a conference on women’s football in Greater London.

The Conference takes place on the 7th February at Arsenal FC and we would like to attract as many people involved with the women’s game in and around London as possible.  It is a consultation process on the draft strategy for the Whole Sport Plan and is a showcase for FA initiatives that can help clubs, coaches, volunteers and anyone connected with the game. The day is free, but bookings do need to be made by the end of January.

As you have one or two teams that are based in London I wondered if it would be possible to put an advert on your site, or a link for the conference

Many Thanks

I have been asked by Bill Servey to issue a reminder to ALL clubs that wish to contact him on his London telephone number. This number is a business number where Bill works and because of certain criteria it is requested that all calls to this number are restricted to after 8.00pm. For those of you who are not sure that is in the evening. Thanks

22-10-04

It is hard to believe that some clubs still do not read the rules that we have to abide by. After all the meetings and all the verbal mutterings that we go through it still goes on deaf ears.

When you are forced to call a game off ( when not for footballing reasons this is frowned upon) there is a laid down procedure for you to follow.

Firstly you have to write to Alex Franklin (league Secretary) within 2 days of the match explaining why the game did not go ahead. if this is because of illness, injury or work commitments then proof of such has to follow this letter to Alex within 14 days of the match. Rule 10.3.

Note: you can only call a game off if your registered playing strength is 6 or less.

A letter just explaining why is not good enough and will result in that club being fined. We try to explain EVERY SEASON that every Sunday from the FIRST day of the season till the LAST is earmarked for fixtures. There are NO FREE WEEKS. As I am sure you will remember that Middlesborough asked to postpone a game not so long ago because of a flu epidemic and was refused and this was the FA telling a Premiership side that the rules have to be obeyed. Once again let me explain to you all. WE ARE SANCTIONED AND GOVERNED BY THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION and although we have our own set of rules if you read the rule book carefully you will see under rule 20.1 that our rules have to be vetted by the FA before we can be sanctioned. It is because of this that we have to be seen to carry out all our actions in line with FA rules and Regulations.

So weekends away, holidays, not feeling like it, its raining / snowing, ground too hard / soft, 8 players that suddenly become 6 because you do not want to travel and get beaten, are not good enough excuses to call a game off. A waterlogged pitch that is confirmed by your groundsman / referee / local authority, properly confirmed either by letter (on Letter Headed paper) or referee report form is OK, Illness or injury supported by a doctors note OK, A letter from your place of work (on headed paper) stating times and dates OK, all other reasons debatable. Why not just get out there and play. It saves you money (fines) and points. Why should that team win a championship because you are too lazy to play and you end up giving them the points. Please remember this is not a Sunday pub league or a league for pure social games. It is a serious attempt to get women and girls playing football to the highest of their ability so that the clubs they represent can achieve the highest possible position within the game of Women's Football. After all the very hard work that is put in by dedicated managers / coaches don't cheapen it by calling games off just because you don't feel like it. Play the game and look forward to the next because you may get better and then who knows where that may lead.

19-10-04

You should have by now received the notification of an EGM to be held after our general council meeting at Bottisham on November 15th 2004. The reason for the EGM is to revise the promotion and relegation criteria now that we have reorganised the divisions. This should have been concluded at the AGM but because of the debate the ensued it was overlooked.

The management committee have discussed this at length and have agreed to put forward a solution that we feel will be beneficial to all. Firstly it must be remembered that at all times the Premier Division MUST remain at 12 teams. (This season we were not to know that late withdrawals would reduce the division to 11 teams) At the end of this season we will see the final play off situation to see if our champions are able to progress to the South East Combination League as next season 2005-2006 they will be promoted by right. We will not know until nearer the time as to whether there will be any relegation down from the Combination League to the ERWFL.

We believe it should stand that the 11th and 12th finishing teams within the Premier Division should be relegated to which ever division they will now be part of (Geographic's to decide). Promoted by right will be the two Division One champions to bring the Premier Division back to 12 teams. We also believe that the runners up in the two Division One's should have the chance to gain promotion and therefore we thought that we would introduce a play off to decide, which would take the form of this. The two runners up would play a one off game and the winner would then play the 10th placed Premier Division side to see who takes the the final Premier Division place.  Should there be no relegation from the Combination League then the winner of the runners up play off game would be promoted by right.

I do hope this makes sense as in my mind it does but it seems difficult to put it down on paper, that's where you lot come in. So please be ready to discuss this at the EGM so we can get in place the beginnings of the future constitution of the ERWFL.

I am also led to believe that our normally very efficient League Secretary Alex (who was at deaths door with a cold ) managed to put down the wrong draw for the first round of the cup. Those of you that have read the draw on the web-site have the correct draw to hand. In other words the web- site is right the letter is wrong.

13-10-04

I have been asked to bring to your attention that the divisional contact page is NOT for FIXTURE enquiries. It is a contact name and number for the club. Club fixture secretaries name and numbers appear in the handbook and should be used for all Fixture enquiries.

A change of venue for White Lions till the end of this season. It is as follows:

White Lions will play the remaining home fixtures at West End Ground, St Ives Road, Somersham

22-09-04

Added to the result grid page for each division I have added all the current match dates. This was  requested by a couple of  site visitors so always there to please you have it. The ' - ' represents clubs that have so far been involved in the FA cup games and as yet those games have not been reassigned. I will stress that these dates are the current set of dates that could be changed as and when they are required so use these in parallel with the fixture page of that week for an accurate set of fixtures for that date.

It has just been brought to my attention that the current rule book has omitted the fee for transfers  as most of you are aware this fee is £10 per player. I will amend the rules on line please amend your rule books accordingly. many thanks

19-09-04

Just been notified that Kirkley have a change of e-mail address it is now : Please update the email address for Kirkley Ladies FC to 'colin@kirkley-fc.co.uk'

13-09-04

To make my life easier can all clubs e-mail to me their FULL REGISTERED PLAYING LIST (first name and surname) so that on Sunday when I try to decipher your goal scorers I can take an initial and a surname and just look up a list. I have had a few corrections to name spelling so far and as the media are now asking for full name of goal scores as well it will help on both fronts. Thanks in advance for your help.

Dave Dawson

Bill Servey has just asked me to put on the web site that he will not be available to answer any questions this week. So if you need any answers then please contact me on 01279-424342 or on my mobile 07951-013199 and I will endeavor to give you the same answers as Bill. As soon as Bill is able to take your calls again I will let you know. (he is not ill just incase your mind is working overtime he is just not available)

Cambridge University have a new secretary as shown below:

Cambridge University
Mandy Wainwright

phone no 07866-608863

Any club that is informed that their league match has got to be postponed by their opponents because of a County Cup match must contact Helen who will try to re-arrange a game for you for that weekend. As we keep saying to you all THERE ARE NO FREE WEEKS.

I would also like to bring to your attention the subject of signing players that have come from outside the UK. Players that you wish to register who do not have a UK issued passport will only be allowed to play if there is an International Clearance in place for the player concerned. The International Clearance is applied for at the FA and normally takes between two to three weeks to be given. This is because of all the paperwork that has to be done in their country as well as here in the UK. There will also be a small fee levied by the FA to cover Fax / Postage costs.

You have all by now received your match cards and referee cards, but you have failed to contact Bill to say that you have got them. Please contact Bill Servey and let him know as we do not have enough spare to supply again and we would have to order more to be printed and this would take time and money so reply to his request and keep us all happy.

When I have deciphered the goal scorers for this week I will put them with the results. I am obviously going deaf as some I am struggling with, If no joy expect a phone call.

02-09-04

We have been informed by the Football Association that we have been fully sanctioned for this season. We have been told by the Football Association that the sum noted in Rule 15.6 (£35.00) is now (£50.00) I have amended the rules that are on the web site but you are advised to alter your rule books accordingly. This is an FA change and therefore goes straight into the rules. Rule books next season will note the change.

01-09-04

The League Secretary and other members of the Management Committee have this evening been informed that Luton Borough Ladies have withdrawn from the league. As a result of this the fixtures will be rescheduled. We hope to have the new fixtures on board for the 12th September games. The fixtures for the 5th September will stand.  As a result of this withdrawal the game that was played yesterday between Peterborough and Luton Borough is now expunged from the records.

Firstly the two games without results were postponed games so all is well. Still need the goal scorers and Player Of Match from both teams names. Also a reminder from Bill Servey that on the match form  in the boxes that are for the teams that are playing. The box on the left is for the HOME TEAM and the box the other side of the 'FC versus' is for the AWAY TEAM got it!!.

I was going to leave this till the next meeting but thought I may as well say it now. With regard to players moving from one club to another across the region they will firstly need a transfer form completed and signed as per instructions, also subject to The Football Association Rules of The Association section 'C' sub-section 2 paragraph b (i) A currently registered player shall not be allowed to register with another Club without first satisfying the Club Officials of the intended Club that all reasonable financial and other liabilities have been discharged to the Club or Clubs with which the player is or was known to be registered  in the current and previous season/s. That is the FA Rule of which we carry out by the use of a Clearance Form

31-08-04

Well the first weeks results are now online and there are still several of you that did not hear me at the last meeting. One result was phoned in from a mobile that had a very poor signal and the result was not logged therefore you will be have to resend your result to me. There are two games that have not had results phoned in (one could be the poor mobile) but as you will see there are several with no goal scores or player of the match. I may have some of the names spelt wrong as some of your pronunciations are to quick and the answer phone does not like it. So please speak slowly and clearly so that  I have a chance of getting the names right. I know that some of the results last week means that you have to sort yourselves out well before telephoning in the results as many goal scorers  can be a pain but please be patient and give me all the details as requested.

Also we have a change of a club secretary: Kettering Town Secretary

Mrs Gloria Munro

A late change for Cornard Ladies

I have looked at the Diary of Events & Fixtures and note that there are a couple of errors as follows:-
Our Secretary/Fixtures Secretary is Dave Couch and our 1st colours will be White & Navy Tops, Navy/White Shorts & Navy/White Socks and our 2nd Navy Yellow Tops, Navy/Yellow Shorts & Navy/Yellow Socks.
Hope this makes sense.
Kind Regards
Claire Welford

Bill Servey has asked me to put this reminder onto the web site. SEVERAL CLUBS ARE IN BREACH OF LEAGUE RULES. THE RULE IN QUESTION IS RULE 8.2E. THE FINE FOR THIS RULE IS ALSO STATED. If those clubs that are in breach of this rule do not comply extremely quickly you will find that you will be suspended from playing in the league.

To all clubs new and old, The Rules of the Eastern Region will be administered as they are laid down, fall foul of these rules and you are making your players pay extra money because of your indiscretion. Read and understand the rules laid down  and everyone will be happy. BE WARNED.

Any club who was not at the recent council meeting please contact Bill Servey if you do not have enough Match and Referee forms to see you over the first few weeks.

13-08-04

Just to let you know I am going on holiday tonight and won't be back till the 25th August so if there is any trouble with the fixtures they will be dealt with on my return.

After the meeting at Bottisham last night the Management Committee had a discussion meeting about the region. From this season and beyond our numbers will remain at 36 teams and as with the other regions we will have to look at the financial side so that we can continue. Initially it is understood that at present the current funds in the bank is the lowest it has been for several years and to function we need to maintain a level which is higher than we currently have. With the main club annual fee having been the same for several years it is almost inevitable that the fees will be increased next year. To try and compensate we have come up with an idea that could be used as both a fund raiser for you the clubs and a fund raiser for the region and if it is successful could mean that the yearly fees remain the same. We are considering running a raffle that would allow clubs to raise money by earning a commission on sales. The more tickets sold the more commission gained and not only that the chance to pick up one of many cash prizes in the main draw, along with other prizes as well. So at this stage what do you think. We need your input. Please e-mail either myself david.dawson8@ntlworld.com or alexander.franklin@tesco.net and we can then judge how we can progress from here. Thank you for reading this and as we said last night have a great season.

First Change. With the hand book now at the printers we have an addition for White Lions. Their home pitch is: Brooklands Centre, Sutton Road, Sutton, Cambs. Please make a note so you are ready to put it into the handbook when you get it next Monday. Any other clubs with information that has been omitted from the application form should both e-mail me  so that I can include it on the Web Site and let Alex Franklin know so that he can do the necessary for the FA records. (and I was hoping this would be the first year that we could produce the handbook with no changes) never mind next year lets hope.

Just been informed by the league secretary Alex that Cambridge City will have a different e-mail contact address than the handbook. The new e-mail address is karina_johnson@papworth.org.uk

New season just around the corner so as this page suggests we are starting with a clean sheet for the new season. Don't forget the league meeting at Bottisham on August 2nd where you will pick up your hand book and fixtures for the new season. With the layout of the new divisions there comes a health warning. Even starting early there is just 34 playing weeks in the season, The Premier and Division One East have 22 weeks of league games and Division One West has 26. There will be 7 rounds of the League Cup to put in for both the Division Ones and 5 for the Premier so if you are good at maths you will realise there is not really enough weeks to get the FA Cup, County Cups and our League Cup and League finished in time so there is a greater need for you to be diligent in getting your games played on time. If you are in the FA Cup or County Cup then Helen Hoye needs to know so she can rearrange fixtures, You will also be allocated fixtures should you be eliminated from any of the League Cup Competitions. SO TELL YOUR PLAYERS NOW THAT EVERY WEEKEND UNTIL THE END OF MAY IS TAKEN.

After all that all it leaves me to say is that I hope you all aspire to what you set out to do and have a great season
